Flat and wide nasal dorsum which is common among Asians can be transformed into a smaller more pleasant appearance by narrowing the dorsum and augmenting the nose through the insertion of nasal implant on top of it.

Narrowing of the dorsum is done by breaking the nasal bones. This process is called Osteotomy. Osteotomy is also required when reducing the nasal hump, and is often used to enhance a twisted nose. Once done, the bones shall be repositioned correctly to create balance between the eyebrow and the nasal tip.

For a safe, worry-free and rejection-free rhinoplasty, Dr. Lansangan prefers to use either cartilage implant or gore-tex implant. He avoids the use of silicone implant due to the countless complications encountered worldwide after over 20 years of its usage.

For a more natural-looking and well-contoured nose, Reconstructive Rhinoplasty using an Open Technique that provides excellent exposure is recommended in this case. This is a tedious and more complicated procedure compared to the classical method using silicone implant, thus requires the dexterity of a well-experienced plastic surgeon.
